Maidstone has a long military history and indeeds still has barracks. One of the stations is called Maidstone Barracks. Here are some old photographs from WW1 and WWll. Mostly they are of civilians doing their best for the war effort.

Below are some interesting photographs of events which have happened in Maidstone over the last 150 years.  It is interesting to see what has and has not changed and how people lived and dressed at that time.

Maidstone and the surrounding area are a great place to visit.  There is a lot to see and do and this area enables visitors to get to world class attractions and to book experiences they cannot get anywhere else.

This blog answers a few questions about what there is to do and see in Maidstone and is it worth a visit? The answer is, yes. Here you will find good shopping, lots of great restaurants and cafés, boat trips, museums, a historic quarter, riverside walks, family entertainment, evening entertainment, frequent events and a lot to see. 

One of the most beautiful and best kept secrets in Kent is the River Medway and its amazing history, diversity and incredible wildlife.  It is quiet and serene and makes a fantastic day of waterside walking and with railway stations close by, getting the train to the start or the end of your walk is no problem.     

Christmas is a time of feasting and to help out a little exercise is good for the soul and the waistline, quite apart from discovering some new places and interesting things.  The 12 Days of Christmas are from the 25^th December to 6^th January.  Lots of people take holiday between Christmas and New Year and so its an ideal time to walk get some fresh air and enjoy a little outdoors. Of course you can do these at any time of the year.

Some days you just need a change of scenery and to get out of home and do some things near you. Maidstone is a great place to head towards, with things for families or meeting up with a group of friends, to catch up and spend some quality time together. This year you can enjoy the Christmas Trail, until 6^th January and that is free and a fun search.

We all know someone who is terribly hard to buy for when it comes to Christmas. Perhaps it is time to forget the socks and smellies and gift your loved one some wonderful memories with an experience that they can truly enjoy.
