Exploring the Greensand Ridge

Places To Visit in Maidstone

Wondering what things there are to do whilst you are in Maidstone?

What is there to do that is exciting in Maidstone?

Is there somewhere we can enjoy some peace and quiet?

Maidstone and the surrounding countryside is a brilliant place to base yourself to enjoy some of the most exciting, interesting and creative experiences available in Kent.

In the air

Parachuting, helicopter tours, light aircraft flights are all available from Headcorn along with very unique experience of being able to undertake a flying weekend, starting with a Tiger Moth, moving up to a Harvard and culminating in a Spitfire flight over the in the Battle of Britain skies through Aero Legends.

Ballooning is also available from Leeds Castle.

All of these experiences are weather dependent.

On the ground

Whilst there is always lovely countryside to take in Spring is particularly beautiful with blossom in the orchards and bluebells in the woods. The road side verges and the banks of the rivers and streams are covered in wild flowers, and Kent is beautiful to explore.

Hucking Estate part of the Woodlands Trust properties has beautiful bluebell woods and around the village of Linton and Coxheath you will fine glorious orchards.

Alternatively you could take to the trees at Go-Ape with its high climbs through the canopy and zip wires.

Great fun is the Segway experience at Leeds Castle.  It is surprisingly easy to learn and offers both tours and cross country runs.

On the water

Mote Park Watersports Centre offers instruction in canoeing and sailing which is brilliant if you want to try out this out as a sport before you head out to sea or along the river.

If you are up for an adventure then you can try the canoe safari or alternatively one of the Allington Belle’s day boats for hire.

If you adventures are more in need of creative fulfilment then try some of the amazing courses at This Art of Mine, or perhaps one of the photography courses at the Big Cat Encounter at the Wildlife Heritage Foundation, where you can get up close to these beautiful creatures.

Keep an eye on our What’s On listing too as sometimes there are unique and different events which can provide you with a completely unique experience, that you will never find anywhere else.

We sometimes have BBC events or wild life surveys which are unique to Mote Park.
