Leeds Castle – a mere stone’s throw away – will likely be the first amazing landmark for you to admire on your airborne voyage.
You will take off from the 24 acre private grounds of the stunning Mercure Maidstone Hotel. The perfect place for your pre- or post-flight refreshments, wind-willing this site gives you this fantastic opportunity to fly in a hot air balloon over Leeds Castle, the site of which dates back to 1119.
The fairy tale castle standing today, which was mostly built in 19th century in the Tudor style, enjoys a spectacular setting on top of two islands surrounded by the River Lense. Look out for the maze, grotto and a newer addition of the golf course.
As you drift along you can look out for the orchards, vineyards and oast houses which are characteristic of Kent, ‘The Garden Of England’, and don’t miss the panoramic views of Maidstone, the county town.

Turn off the M20 at junction 8 and head towards the A20 for Leeds Castle. The hotel is on the South side of the A20 opposite and to the East of Leeds Castle. Park at the rear of the Hotel, the meeting point is at the wind sock at the South side of the hotel.
