About

Kent Archives marks Heritage Open Days 2026 by unlocking areas normally closed to the public for special guided tours on the 19 September. Understand how Kent's biggest and busiest archive service works by taking a tour backstage to see the Conservation Studio, Reprographics and Digitisation, the Archives Work Room and Strong Room.

Tours will begin at 10.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. PLACES ON THE TOURS ARE STRICTLY LIMITED AND IT IS ESSENTIAL TO BOOK by ringing 03000 420673 or emailing archives@kent.gov.uk.

The tours will take in a special mini-exhibition that runs throughout most of the Heritage Open Days period, from 11 to 19 September, entitled 'Every Day is a School Day: Learning and Literacy in Bygone Kent'.
