Celebrate Black History Month this October in Maidstone

This year’s national theme, “Standing Firm in Power and Pride,” honours the strength, beauty, and unity within Black communities. It’s a powerful call to reflect on the past, embrace the present, and step boldly into the future. In Maidstone, we bring this theme to life through vibrant celebrations that centres storytelling, rhythm, wellness, and connection.

Our programme is designed to uplift people of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences. We believe Black history is British history, and that joy, pride, and cultural heritage should be celebrated by everyone. Through music, movement, and conversation, we aim to create a space where people feel seen, heard, and valued.

But this is more than a moment—it’s about building momentum.

By celebrating together, we aim to:

Strengthen community identity and foster intergenerational engagement
Increase visibility and appreciation of Black heritage in Maidstone
Promote wellbeing and health awareness, especially within marginalised groups
Build pride, confidence, and connection across all communities

This celebration is a chance to honour the legacy of Black Britons, amplify local voices, and inspire future generations. Whether you’re joining us for a drumming workshop, a storytelling session or simply to connect with others, you’ll be part of a movement that celebrates unity, resilience, and joy.
