At the Heart of Kent Walking Festival we are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible experience for everyone. We believe that walking and exploring the outdoors should be opportunities that can be enjoyed by people of all backgrounds, ages, abilities, and identities.
We strive to offer a diverse programme of walks and activities that cater to a range of interests, fitness levels, and access needs. Where possible, walk descriptions include information about distance, terrain, gradients, accessibility features, rest stops, and facilities to help participants choose activities that suit their needs.
We welcome participants who use mobility aids, assistance dogs, or require additional support. We encourage anyone with specific access requirements to contact us in advance so that we can discuss how best to accommodate their needs.
We are committed to fostering an environment where everyone is treated with dignity, respect, and kindness. We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment, or exclusion of any kind based on age, disability, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion or belief, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, or any other protected characteristic.
Our volunteers, walk leaders, and staff are encouraged to promote an inclusive culture and to help ensure that all participants feel safe, valued, and able to take part.
We recognise that accessibility is an ongoing journey and are committed to continually improving our practices. We welcome feedback from participants and partners to help us make future festivals even more accessible and inclusive.
If you have any questions about accessibility, require information in an alternative format, or would like to discuss specific requirements, please contact us before the event. We will do our best to support your participation.
Together, we can create a walking festival that is open, welcoming, and enjoyable for all.
