Of Light and Time was a community art project, supported by Maidstone Borough Council, that brought together children and older people through simple conversations and carefully crafted candle pieces.
Children were invited to share their thoughts about the future—what they hope for, imagine, or value—while older residents offered reflections, memories, or words they would like to pass on. These contributions were gathered in a relaxed and accessible way, allowing people from different backgrounds to take part without needing any prior experience in the arts.
These shared words were then translated into a collection of hand-crafted candles, each designed to reflect a particular idea or feeling through its form and colour.
Over 400 people visited during this exhibition.
