Mote Park

Award Winning Park for all to Enjoy

What's On in August

The summer holidays have arrived and this month is packed full of exciting events for the whole family to enjoy in Maidstone.

Keeping the children amused is easy as there are a host of activities, workshops and fun on offer. Kent Life invites you to spend a day ‘At the Seaside’, or join Hopper the Rabbit and friends at the Hop Farm. If your kids love getting creative, then check out the fantastic summer art camps at This Art of Mine, or the creative workshops at Maidstone Museum.

Discover more about the natural world at a number of enlightening events. Enjoy an evening Bat Walk or go on a mini-beast safari. Try your hand at pond-dipping or build a mini-beast home. Discover more about bees at the Bee Happy Day or at the Pollinator Party, and handle some monster creepy-crawlies at the Bug Roadshow.

August is a great time to enjoy some outdoor entertainment and there’s a lot on offer. Leeds Castle is showing some classic films, including The Italian Job (with full orchestra!) as well as Dirty Dancing and Harry Potter & The Philosopher’s Stone. There’s also an outdoor theatre performance of Peter Pan - a magical story told in a magical setting.

Take a flight of fantasy at Maidstone Museum as you discover ‘Discworld & Beyond’. This fabulous exhibition features drawings and illustrations by the very talented Paul Kidby, who's best known as the illustrator of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld books.

The ever-popular Combined Ops Military Spectacular returns to Headcorn, while the outstanding Military Odyssey is back at the County Showground.

The Ice Cream Festival returns to Kent Life on August Bank Holiday Monday. Come along and learn how ice cream is made, sample tasters and visit the chocolatiers and sweet stalls - a real treat for kids of all ages!

Foodie fans will love Shemomedjamo - Maidstone’s multi-cultural food festival -as it returns to Mote Park for 3 days over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Serving up delicious global cuisine, made with local produce wherever possible, there will also be world music, dance, art and craft to enjoy.
