Mote Park is a very popular venue for a host of events ranging from large outdoor music festivals, charity runs to wildlife and habitat exploration.
Mote Park became a very popular event venue after the BBC held the Radio One Big Weekend there in 2008. The BBC again came to Mote Park to host the Stargazing Events and Cbeebies Mr Bloom. Since then a number of large music festivals have been staged there. From The Social Festival, the Big Day Out to the classic rock festival Ramblin Man Fair, now in its fourth year. However it’s not just about music. The park is now the venue for beer festivals, food festivals and charity fund raisers.
From sponsored dog walks, charity events and open air theatre, there is a huge array of events and activities taking place in the park during the summer.
Wildlife habitats have developed in the park over the centuries and it now provides a home for an amazing number of species. Many of these are the subjects of walks and talks, alongside studies to monitor populations. Walks and talks include the history of Mote Park, water birds, small mammals, wild flowers, trees and bats.
The bat population is of significant national importance and whilst capturing them is illegal, there are specific events with licensed wildlife experts to trap and monitor the species. These events are always popular, but places are strictly limited so early booking is essential.
