Create a willow lantern to carry in the lantern Parade in preparation for Light Up Maidstone with Christie, our lead artist at Creative Maidstone
To celebrate the light up Maidstone festival, we are running a public workshop, where you will learn how to make a willow structure, use specialist materials to create durable lanterns and decorate them. You will also have the opportunity to become a part of the spectacular lantern parade on the 6th January. Click here for more details about Light up Maidstone 2026
This workshop is ideal for all ages, kids and grown-ups! This session will include the use of fine motor skills, such as using scissors, tying knots, using brushes and sponges.
As this is a full-day session, there will be an hour lunch break in the middle day.
This will be a messy session, so please bring an apron or wear old clothes you don't mind getting messy
