Come down to Creative Maidstone to make an 8-bit style print with this Tile letterpress printmaking workshop. Our lead artist Christie, a very experienced printer, will guide you step by step through the printing process, from plotting designs to inking up and using our printing press.

Tile letterpress printing is a relief printmaking technique where you use plastic building bricks (yes, the popular children's toy) to leave behind raised areas that make up your design. The plastic bricks are then inked with a brayer and pressed onto paper to make your design.

WHAT TO EXPECT
* Plot out your own design
* Snap the bricks together to build your design 
* Explore colour mixing, inking up, and registration
* Use a printing press and other methods to get a nice crisp print

WHAT YOU GET
As well as the new printmaking skills that you can continue beyond the session, you will also get to take home all of your wonderful prints made during the session.

LEVEL:

This workshop is ideal for teenagers from 11 - 17yrs and is suitable for any ability. No previous experience is necessary, just enthusiasm! We will be using fine motor skills such as holding a pencil, a pen, and picking up small plastic tiles.
