Mindful Brushstrokes: Inclusive Art in BSL | Creative Maidstone

Mindful Brushstrokes is a six-week beginner watercolour course focused on calm, creativity and wellbeing. In weekly two-hour sessions, participants are gently introduced to watercolour through guided, pressure-free activities, alongside gentle mindful exercises and simple breathing awareness. The course explores techniques such as wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry painting, colour mixing, layering and expressive mark-making, including dry brush to create texture and detail, alongside playful experimentation with salt, cling film and sponges.

Over the six weeks, participants use these techniques to create abstract and nature-inspired paintings, building confidence at their own pace. No previous art experience is needed, all materials are provided, and the emphasis is on slowing down, enjoyment and self-expression within a small, supportive group.

There are 8 spaces for the public and a further 8 via referral only.

Mindful Brushstrokes is delivered by WeClick CIC and is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
