Mote Park

Mote Park

Award Winning Park for all to Enjoy

What's On in September

As the children head back to school and the seasons begin to change, there are still plenty of events and activities to enjoy in Maidstone this September.

It’s harvest-time and there is a distinctly foodie feel to many of this month’s events. We welcome ‘Shemomedjamo,’ a brand new multicultural food festival, to Mote Park, while Leeds Castle hosts its annual Food Festival. Kent Life is relaunching its ever-popular Hops and Harvest Boutique Festival with an even bigger and better programme of live music and entertainment for 2017, plus all the traditional favourites of hop-picking and, of course, beer tasting!

Our festivals don’t just celebrate food either. For history lovers, Heritage Open Days take place from 7th - 10th with a wealth of local historic treasures to discover this year. Truckfest rolls into the Hop Farm for two days of Monster Trucks, displays and family fun, or breathe in the scents at the Festival of Flowers as Leeds Castle becomes an ‘Enchanted Castle’ full of stunning floral displays.

For music-lovers, there’s the Summer Social Festival showcasing the world’s greatest dance music acts, or there’s the Grill ‘n’ Chill at The Hop Farm for a more chilled-out vibe, plus the odd VW camper van!

There’s even something for the family pet, as Paws in the Park returns with lots of dog games and activities to try and a host of arena displays and entertainment.

Maidstone Museum’s brilliant exhibition ‘Game Plan: Board Games Rediscovered’ celebrates the joy, excitement and occasional frustration of playing board games. The Museum also hosts the Fossil Roadshow at the end of the month.

As Strictly Come Dancing returns to our screens this month, the Hazlitt Theatre welcomes two of the show’s stars in the form of Ian Waite & Camilla Dallerup. There is also a great mix of comedy, including Rich Hall and Jon Culshaw, along with a host of tribute shows to enjoy this month, from Lipstick on your Collar to Total 80s and more.
