About

FULLY BOOKED

The tour incorporates the architectural features of this fine Georgian building, the richly decorated council chamber, the gaol and its graffiti.

Maidstone Town Hall is a fine Georgian building dated 1763 and originally used as the Magistrate's Courts. The fresco's in the council chamber all carry their own unique stories which are interesting as is the ceremonial collection of silverware which has a long history.  This is followed by a visit to the unusual Gaol which is on the 2nd floor*. Graffiti created by those waiting for deportation is still visible and interesting to look at.

Tours takes about an hour. Tours must be booked in advance, to book your space please email mayor@maidstone.gov.uk

* Unfortunetly the 2nd floor Gaol is not accessible to the mobility impaired.
