About

This Art of Mine are running a different workshop for children each week throughout the summer holiday. Week six is all about experimenting with art.

These five days are all about pushing the boundaries of art. Your child will be experimenting with different artistic mediums, learning new techniques and creating clever effects with paints, clay, tools, ink and more.

You can book the whole week or individual days, see below:

Mon- Revealing Art Techniques

A workshop full of hidden suprises. Throughout the day, your child will be learning various masking off techniques, adding layers to their artwork. In the morning, they will be creating a colourful parrot plate and in the afternoon they will be designing their own inspirational canvas using watercolours and masking fluid.

Tues- Colourful Sgraffito Day

Sgraffito is an ancient and effective ceramic technique. Children will spend the day creating beautiful pieces using this new skill including a clay piece designed by them in the morning and a large ceramic plate in the afternoon. This scratching effect always gives fantastic detailed results, and is very satisfying to do. Children will have a lot of freedom, choosing their own designs and colours during the course of the day.

Wed- Blending for Impact

During this class, your child will learn the art of blending colours, an important artistic technique. After practicing on paper they will paint their own designs with acrylic on canvas. In the afternoon they will be using blending, shading and silhouette effects to create a whole scenee on a ceramic plate.

Thurs- Dotting as an Art Form

Spend the day learning all about how dots, spots, spirals and patterns have been used throughout time to make outstanding work. Enjoy using the simple yet effective technique to paint two ceramic pieces over the course of the day and learn how to use the specialist ceramic tools.

Fri - Using Texture and Patterns for Impact

Your child will enjoy using textures and patterns in their artwork to create beautiful pieces that look multi-dimensional and full of live. During the course of the workshop they will be using forks, palette knives and texture paste to create exciting results using acrylics and glazes.
