A summer holiday workshop learning different clay techniques.


This Art of Mine are running a different workshop for children each week throughout the summer holiday. Week two is about using clay.

These 5 days are all about learning everything there is to know about clay and ceramics. Learn how to design and make your diverse clay sculptures, how to use glazes, how the kiln works and much more. Your child will also get the opportunity to throw a pot on the wheel everyday.

You can book the whole week or individual days. Please see below:

Mon: Under the Sea Clay Day

Your child will enjoy learning new clay techniques during the course of this all day workshop. In the morning they will be making a jellyfish mobile out of clay which can be hung from the wall or ceiling. Then, in the afternoon they will be designing a 'chip and dip' plate featuring a sea creature of their choice and using a 'bubble' technique for the background.

Tues: Harry Potter Inspired Clay Day

During this magical workshop, your child will be creating two amazing Harry Potter inspired projects as well as learning how to throw a pot or bowl on the pottery wheel. In the morning children will sculpt a clay patterned envolope with a message of their choice. In the afternoon they will be creating their own 'chip and dip' plate with a Hogwarts theme using silkscreens and specialist ceramic techniques.

Wed: Woodland Animals in Clay

Durning this workshop the children will be celebrating woodland animals in their habitats. In the morning they will be creating a clay piece based on their design of an animals in its woodland home. In the afternoon children will be painting a ceramic figurine.

Thurs: Sea Creatures in Clay

Enjoy an adventurous day of clay exploring the deep seas. In the morning your child will be creating a snack platter out of clay based on their favourite underwater animal or fish. In the afternoon they will enjoy making a mug using glazes and a bubble technique.

Fri: Tropical Clay Day

Enjoy exploring the tropics through art in this colourfu and creative workshop. Children will be designing and making a jungle themed clay peice in the morning which can be used as a phone or book holder. In the afternoon they will have fun making a tropical themed plate using masking techniques.

For Satnav: ME14 3LR (it may drop you a little early depending on which direction you are coming from so just keep going!)

The studio is 5 mins from Junction 5 on the M2 or 10 mins from Junction 7 on the M20. The studio is situated on a country lane and there is plenty of free parking.

Public Transport Directions


The nearest train station is Bearsted. You will have to get a taxi from the station to the studio which will be a 10 minute drive. A local taxi service is Express cabs.
