Proms in the Park 2022 is a Jubilee celebration of classical music, community spirit and a long, relaxing summer day in the park! So dress up for the occasion, bring those flags to wave, and let’s celebrate.

The magnificent Whatman Park Riverstage provides the backdrop for this year's unforgettable afternoon and evening of music.

Performers include Invicta Jazz, Hazlitt Institute Choir and Hazlitt Institute Youth Theatre, Hazlitt Institute Dance Company, Fred Clark, Jayne Snow, The Ashatones (Barbershop Quartet), and

Maidstone Wind Symphony (from 6.30pm), will be taking to the stage this year.

Meet the Perfomers

Maidstone Wind Symphony

Award-winning wind orchestra Maidstone Wind Symphony is one of the United Kingdom's leading wind ensembles renowned for its passion and innovation. They are renowned for their highly acclaimed interpretations of wind band music with repertoire ranging from traditional and popular classics through to contemporary band masterpieces.

The Ashatones

Not your average barbershop quartet, the Ashatones are a close-knit group of professional musicians and friends. With an extensive back catalogue of original arrangements, the Ashatones perform a wide range of music spanning various decades and musical genres.

Hazlitt Institute Choir

The Hazlitt Institute Choir will be performing some big hits from the world of musical theatre, Disney, the charts and beyond, all in a triumphant Jubilee themed celebration!

Jayne Snow

Jayne Snow is a professional singer songwriter from Kent. She will be performing originals and covers from the 1950’s-2020’s in Soul, Rock, Pop, Reggae, Country and more, there really will be something for everyone!

Hazlitt Institute Dance Company

Expect a 1920's theme focusing on the Fosse, the jive and the lindy hop with an upbeat group number alongside some beautiful duets from these wonderful performers.

Fred Clark

Fred Clark is an acoustic singer and songwriter with a love for playing upbeat, acoustic pop and catchy tunes. Feel free to join in and sing along as audience participation is encouraged.

Hazlitt Institute Youth Theatre

The Hazlitt Institute Youth Theatre will be presenting a fun look at the last 70 years of the Queen's reign taking you on a journey through the eras. They will be creatively exploring some of her best-known moments and speeches and looking towards the future impact on young people and the world that they want to see. 

Invicta Jazz Orchestra

The Invicta Jazz Orchestra have performed regularly throughout the year at notable venues including the Marlborough Jazz Festival and recent tours to France and the Netherlands. Their style and their music are infectious, and audiences have often been seen dancing in the streets, with their variety of swing, jazz, funk, and rock.

David Zachary

David Zachary has been acting and presenting his whole life, even as a toddler he was entertaining the family. He has featured in pantomimes at the Hazlitt Theatre and is looking forward to returning this year.


We will be giving out Katherine Jenkins Mote Park Proms tickets to the best dressed Jubilee themed individual and group at Proms in the Park 2022!

So make sure you get your Union Jacks out and dress for the occasion!

2 tickets will be won by the individual and up to 6 tickets will be won by the group. Extra tickets may also be available for other creatively, jubilee dressed individuals. 

Judging will commence between 4pm and 4.30pm so make sure you are at Whatman Park Riverstage ready before all the fun starts! Performances will be starting at 3pm so we advise to head down early to get a good spot.

Tickets will be sent to winners via email after the event.

Food and drink

Catering and bar will be provided by Inn Any Event. Enjoy hot food, Pimms, craft beer, wine, cider, gin, soft drinks and more!

You can also bring a picnic with you due to plenty of space to perch on a picnic blanket or chairs to tuck in and watch the wonderful performers.

Road Directions

Please be advised that the venue has no car parking. Pedestrian access is from St. Peter Street in the town centre or across the footbridge by Maidstone United Football Stadium.

The nearest car park is Sandling Road Pay and Display or Fremlin Walk multi-storey car park which is approx 10 min walk from Whatman Park. You may also park in the Mall Shopping Centre car park which is approx 15 min walk from Whatman Park. 

Please refrain from parking in nearby streets as you may incur a parking fine.  

Public Transport Directions

Whatman Park is within walking distance of Maidstone East and Maidstone West Railway Stations.
