Enjoy an eclectic mix of live music on the bandstand in Brenchley Gardens

Mikey Price is a distinctive singer songwriter and guitarist from Maidstone with edgy and memorable songs that take in elements of folk, post punk and rock. She is joined for this gig by double bass player Jon Fuller – formerly of folk-rock band Wheeler Street, and currently a member of bluegrass band The Lowly Strung.

An acoustic four-piece from the Medway Towns, The Dredgermen take elements of traditional folk, sea shanties and musical hall rhythms, adding an edgy, almost punky lyrical delivery that recalls The Pogues, Billy Bragg and Ian Dury. Their eponymous debut album is a very listenable collection of original tales weaved around themes of the docks, the sea, love, and characters past and present from the Medway Delta, with a nod to the work of Billy Childish and Sally Ironmonger.
Lead singer Patrick Engelbert is a confident lyricist with an authentic delivery and a knack for a sing-a-long chorus. Stand out tracks are 'Man Overboard', 'Be I A Man, Be I A Beast' and live set closer 'Tommy'. A mixture of melancholic tales, upbeat stompers and memorable tunes, backed by guitar, mandolin, percussion and bass – 'raw folk' as the band themselves describe it.

Back in 2017, Holly Henderson began working with guitarist, producer & Youtuber Pete Thorn (Chris Cornell, Courtney Love, Melissa Etheridge) on what would become her first full-length album, “Monday Green”. Pete first became aware of Holly through Instagram and was drawn to her raw musicality and instincts. It’s an amazing and inspiring story of how a relatively unknown young artist can meet one of the most respected guitarists in the world over the internet and a short time later she is in LA recording with some of the best talents in the business.

Holly’s music can go from ‘slow & beautiful’ to ‘melt your face off’ within the blink of an eye. The 10 songs on the album are full of melody and beauty with an undercurrent of heavy moods, strong harmonies, and impressive guitar work.

The album features contributions by Blair Sinta (Alanis Morissette, Stevie Nicks) and Jon Button (The Who, Sheryl Crow), Jebin Bruni (Meshell Ndegeocello, Fiona Apple) and Dennis Martin (Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi).

In his down-time from building bespoke guitar pedals and playing with 4AD affiliated 'It Hugs Back', multi-instrumentalist Jack Theedom writes and records his own material. Best Intentions brings his musical output to the live stage. Bonded by Jack's original song writing the Maidstone three piece have a shared passion for loud fuzzy riffs, the 60s lysergic beat groups, 90s American alt rock, DIY punk ethics, slacker pop and the studio experimenters of the 70s.

This event has been funded through the European Regional Development Fund, Welcome Back Fund.
