Heritage Open Days: North Downs Way Ramble

Starting at Lenham Station, the walk will begin with a visit to the historic village centre before making our way onto the North Downs Way. We will take in a little history of the Lenham chalk cross before beginning the gentle rolling route stopping for a photo with ‘Percy the Pilgrim’ above Harrietsham. 

There are many points of interest along the way, and you will hear about the ecology of the North Downs Way, some of the farming techniques, its history, pilgrimages and fauna and flora of the trail. With breaks to take in the views and some refreshment, the trail will descend arriving at Hollingbourne station where the walk will end.

Here we can take the opportunity to sample the delights of our newly refurbished ticket office, which was closed for 32yrs prior to its transformation into a community hub and impressive café in Jan 2024.

Lenham station is 2 stops back along the Kent Downs Line from Hollingbourne station. 

Please wear suitable footwear for uneven terrain and bring snacks, drinks and essential medications.
