Gini on trail at Kings Wood

About

Wild with Wheels is delighted to invite you to join us at the Heart of Kent's, Kings Wood on Thursday 11th May at 10.30-12.30pm for a FREE sensory focused accessible nature experience.

Kings Wood lies in the heart of Kent Downs Area of Natural Beauty. A section of the 153 mile North Downs Way passes through these woods, which has been used as an ancient pilgrimage route since medieval times.

Experienced Disabled Walks Leader Gini Mitchell will be guiding this walk, which aims to encourage those with mobility limitations who rely on wheeled equipment, to access the beautiful wild spaces in Kent. We will be following the accessible track alongside the North Downs Way, which hosts one of many Art Installations in the area.

We will be immersing ourselves in the Wood, to celebrate and appreciate all that trees and the life within them, have to offer. We will learn more about the native wildlife and discover the nurturing benefits of trees. We will spend a moment forest bathing, as well as offering a chance to find out more about your Birth Tree.

Ensure you have a full battery, which is in good condition and can manage at least 9 miles range (just in case). The terrain should be good for most boot scooters / power chairs and is suitable for wheelchair users too (who can manage the distance). Any questions on the accessibility, then please get in touch as we are happy to help. We have two routes, so depending on the ground conditions, we will decide which way to go nearer the time, as we will avoid any mud if it’s been wet recently. We shall send pre wheeled-walk information after receiving your booking confirmation.

This location is suitable for those with mobility limitations, who use self propelled, attendant driven. or motorised wheelchairs and scooters.

There is plenty of space for Parking , no designated disabled bays (yet).

We'll be exploring the woodland owned by Forestry England , which follows along an easy access path. Immerse yourself in a guided walk in the woods.

Join us and get close to nature with our experienced Support Walkers.
