Log fire at the Chilston Park Hotel. Perfect for a winter afternoon tea.

A Log Fire

Pull on your wellies, go for a bracing walk and cosy up by a log fire.  On a cold day there are few luxuries which compare to a crackling log fire when the weather is cold and spring is just around the corner.

The Dog and Bear at Lenham can be found at the foot of the North Downs and close to the Pilgrims Way or alternatively try the excellent afternoon tea at Chilston Park Hotel just a little to the south of Lenham.

The Pepper Box Inn, Windmill Hill at Harrietsham offers a glorious open fire and is close to walks on the North Downs.

The Black Horse at Thurnham is a great place for a stop either from the Pilgrims Way or from White Horse Wood Country Park, where you can come over the bracing top of the hill and down and into the sheltered lee of the Downs.

A walk in Mote Park or along the Medway Valley Tow Path is close to The Pilot in Maidstone town centre, an unusual find for a town centre location.
