The month for romance and fairytales
What's On in February
It may still be winter but there’s a hint of spring in Maidstone this month with bursts of colour from snowdrops and daffodils, and there are plenty of events and activities to enjoy too.
Head to Maidstone Museum and catch up on 50 years of work by Graham Clarke in his brand new exhibition ‘Now and Then’. Graham is one of Britain’s most popular and best-selling printmakers and this exhibition includes a selection of his etchings, block prints, watercolours and sketchbooks all demonstrating his unique style.
Meanwhile in the café gallery, Nell Weatherley will be exhibiting a selection of her beautiful embroidered watercolours.
February is also the month of romance. This Art of Mine is offering couples the chance to recreate that famous scene from Ghost with a wheel-throwing workshop for couples. For something a little less messy, why not treat your loved one to a romantic Valentine’s dinner? There are some great offers at various venues around Maidstone.
There's a Romance theme at this month's Museum Lates too, with a talk from the curators on the objects inspired by love or lust. This will be followed by a free cocktail and the chance to see a classic silent film - City Lights - starring Charlie Chaplin.
There are some real treats on offer for the kids this February half term too. Discover birds, bugs and beasts at Leeds Castle or head to the Hop Farm for some breath-taking high wire action with Circus Zyair. There will be fun craft activities at Maidstone Museum and at Cobtree Manor Park, and if you head to Kent Life you may even meet some gorgeous new born lambs.
There really is something for everyone this February.
