Theatre and Performance
With top shows, great music and cracking comedy at the Hazlitt Arts Centre, there really is something for everyone.
The theatre itself makes up only part of the performance space, the Exchange Studio offers a flexible space for band music, theatre in the round and generally a great space for smaller audiences with around 150 seats.
The Graham Clarke Gallery is an intimate town gallery for local artists to exhibit and create work. The cafe and regular daytime events add to the atmosphere of a relaxed environment to exhibit and view local talent. The gallery is accessible six days a week Monday – Saturday from 10am – 6pm.
The Forth Wall offers a good space for meetings and rehearsals.
HYT is the Hazlitt Youth Theatre which has around 160 members and provides not only great performances but also an opportunity for 6 - 18 year olds to try out some skills and theatre performace techniques.
The Hazlitt Arts Centre is also home to the Maidstone Film Society which has regular programme of "Art House" films. Regualar trips to London theatres are also organised and all you have to do is book.
