In the Countryside
Maidstone nestles in to the Kentish countryside in the heart of the county, bounded to the foot of the North Downs and the River Medway. Even from the centre of town the countryside of Kent is not far away. The Maidstone Millennium River Park takes you straight into a different environment from the bustle of the town whilst you walk along the serene river banks, full of wildlife and tranquillity.
The Darling Buds of May brought the Kentish scenery and country parks into millions of homes with the apple blossom and oast houses, and whilst this is typical, seasonally you can also find woods full of bluebells, lambs in the meadows, fruit in the orchards and golden autumn leaves in the forests. Whatever time of year you choose to visit the countryside and warm villages with their russet clay peg tiles, it remains one of the joys of being in Kent.
To find out more about the places to visit, the villages and great places to walk have a look at some of attractions below.
